Back in 2009, I auditioned to take classes at Groundlings in LA. I passed. And in 2010, I began Basic Level I (which I think is now called Improv Workshop A).
I *loved* these classes. I learned so much as an actor, but I learned a bunch as a writer.
- how to craft a scene
- how to hone in on what the character wants or needs
- great practice at saying “yes, and” not only to my scene partners but also to my own self while writing
- how to be fearless
- how to change power in a scene
- tricks for breaking through writers block
So much good stuff.
I would have taken more if I’d had the time and the money.
