“Genesis” is a short documentary that I produced and directed about a sweet young artist who plans to be an animal rescuer when she grows up. Genesis was born with profound hearing loss, and while it took several years before she received the technology and therapy that enables her to listen and speak, it has not impacted her relationships with her mother and sister or her ability to enjoy the sweet life they’ve built together.

“Genesis” is one episode of a series of documentary short films that I have produced and directed for Hearing First — an organization that promotes Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) for children who are deaf or hard of hearing — through FiveStone, an agency here in NYC. Through the technology and therapy provided as part of the Listening and Spoken Language protocol, many deaf or hard of hearing children have learned to listen and to speak.
