Back in late 2023, I had the great experience of being the writer on a feature documentary about circus artists in Las Vegas and how they fared during covid uncertainly, show closures, and the year following as they didn’t know which shows would open again or not. The film asks who stayed in the game, who had to return home, and who gave up and persued other work, but more importantly… WHY?
The project was directed and shot by Ben Robertson of Silvertree Films in Las Vegas and edited by Ryan Fritzsche. When I was brought onto the project, I reviewed all the transcripts and wrote a paper edit for the whole feature, then I worked with the editor to get a really strong cut.
The film just premiered at it’s first festival and one that’s perfect for the subject — the Circus International Film Festival!! And I was delighted to hear that on May 11, 2025, the film was awarded BOTH the Audience Award and Jury Award for feature length film!!
