Short Film — “Sonny”

Sonny is a short film that I wrote in 2009 and produced and directed in 2010. It premiered in LA in 2013.

Sonny is about a homeless man who squats in a dirty old RV on an empty lot. When he meets a brash young woman named Annie at the local recycling depot, his world is turned upside down.

You can watch it right now! The password is recycle.

We shot it in 2010. Then a few months later, we moved to NYC from LA and I proceed to work on the post-production phase in 2011 with an editor friend, Jack Maatman, in LA via Skype! By 2012 we were done with the picture editing and moved onto sound editing with another Angelino, Paul Hackner. When we finished that, we began submitting to festivals and in 2013, Sonny appropriately premiered in LA at the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival. Sonny went on to play at five other festivals, even being nominated at one for a Screenwriting award.
